S&B's 10-1032 40 Gallon fuel tank will greatly increase your Sprinter van's fuel capacity while maintaining the factory functions! the 40 gallon tanks have a slightly shorter footprint to fit between plumbing you commonly find on camper conversion vans, while still adding a significant amount of additional range for your van.

There are a few variations of these tanks depending on your van's year and make. Make sure you get the right one for your application by checking the list here, if you have any questions about what will fit feel free to give us a call!

10-1032 (this tank) will work on most 2023+ van chassis as long as it has the 2.0 diesel engine. Fits 170" crew vans and the 40 Gallon tank clears all plumbing that is further than 5" back from the factory tank.

10-1027 is S&B's other 40 gallon tank option, it fits most 2019-2022 van chassis. including 144" DRW vans, and 170" crew vans. The 40 Gallon tank clears all plumbing that is further than 5" back from the factory tank.


10-1031 the larger 45 gallon tank offering works with all 2019+ Mercedes van chassis with the following exceptions:

  • 144" drw vans
  • 177" crew vans
  • vans with plumbing within 2 feet of the factory tank or 19 inches from the rear of the large rear crossmember.
  • any 2024-25 Storyteller XO affected by the seat brace recall that have not been serviced. (Fixed seat braces do fit with these tanks)

Additional Notes

When using the auxiliary fuel tap on stock tanks, tap stops pulling fuel around 1/4 tank. With the S&B Tank, it will stop pulling fuel around 1/3-1/2 tank.

Fuel gauge and "distance to empty" reading
most vans are equipped with a "J51" fuel gauge which can accurately handle reading the tank level properly. If your van does not have a J51 fuel gauge, we recommend reaching out to your local dealer as they can typically reprogram the gauge for you. prior to or after installing the tank.

The distance to empty reading will be roughly half of what your actual value should be, since it is calibrated to believe you have half of the fuel you will actually have! If you are looking for accurate distance to empty readings you can purchase the following module TI1527-00. We have found that most customers do not need the "DtE" reading and that the fuel gauge reading properly is more than adequate due to the cost of these modules!
